Reflective Activity w/ Cuddy Ted Talk

Before trying the power poses suggested by Amy Cuddy, I wasn’t feeling all that confident.  I was kind of down and not engaging in conversation.  I tried the “wonder woman” pose because it was the only pose that was not all that flashy and you could do it without sticking out like a sore thumb.  I held this pose for 2 minutes as recommended.  According to Amy Cuddy, “So you make yourself big, you stretch out, you take up space, you’re basically opening up…So they do this both when they have power sort of chronically, and also when they’re feeling powerful in the moment.”  While completing this pose you do feel more powerful. I don’t know if this is do to the fact that I was not hunched over and more blood was circulating throughout my body.  After letting the releasing my body from the pose I went back to my old mentality of non-engagement.  For me, I do not believe the pose increased or decreased my confidence.
